We are writing to reconnect with you following last evening’s Board Meeting, where Trustees approved a deficit budget for the 2026–2027 school year. It is important to us that we continue to communicate openly about the decisions before us and the path forward.

As the 2025–2026 school year comes to a close this week, HWDSB is celebrating a remarkable year of growth, resilience, and community impact. Across our school board, students have demonstrated excellence in academics, the arts, athletics, and everyday acts of kindness, reflecting HWDSB's culture of belonging and excellence.

June is a meaningful month for many reasons. It marks the beginning of the last instructional month for the 2025-2026 school year, bringing with it a season of transition, achievement, and new beginnings. It also marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, as well as Ontario Day, when we reflect on what it means to call this province home.

Today on June 1, I am pleased to take a moment to recognize Ontario Day. This is an important time to reflect on the rich history, diversity, and shared values that shape our wonderful province.
