Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board supports research and evidence-based practices in all of the work that we do. The Research and Analytics Department includes expertise in data science, information privacy and applied research.
Want to Conduct Research at HWDSB?
Research and Analytics works with internal and external researchers to facilitate research within our board. Research and Analytics is responsible for reviewing and recommending approval for all research activities that involve staff, students, facilities or programs at HWDSB.

Applications are accepted three times per year:

What services does the Research and Analytics Department provide?
- Responsive data and analytics on a schedule for achievement;
- Longitudinal and predictive data analytics and visualizations of large datasets;
- A stand-alone Research Ethics Committee;
- Monitoring implementation support;
- Program evaluation;
- Resource development;
- Applied research; and
- Data literacy capacity building.
Collaboration with External Partners
The Research and Analytics Department is a member of the Association of Educational Researchers of Ontario (AERO), and has active partnerships with a variety of organizations, including McMaster University, Brock University, uOttawa, Wilfred Laurier University, and the City of Hamilton.
