As we enter the final three months of the school year, we arrive at an important moment for reflection and renewed focus. This time invites us to pause and check in on the goals we set at the beginning of the year, the supports we continue to provide, and the impact we are striving to have on student achievement across our system.

As we enter April, I want to offer an opportunity to reflect ahead of Mental Health Week, which takes place from May 4 to 10. This period encourages us to pause and consider the importance of mental health and well-being across our schools and communities.

Thank you to families, students, staff, and community members who contributed to the 2026–2027 budget consultation process. Your engagement has helped shape the decisions now being made to support the financial stability of HWDSB.

Today, we proudly celebrate Raquel McIntosh, winner of the 2026 MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award—a national honour that recognizes the extraordinary educators who transform students’ lives through music. Raquel’s work has not only elevated music education at Adelaide Hoodless Elementary School, but has also inspired an entire community.

A Hold and Secure is a type of secure schools response that addresses a safety situation in the community outside the school. Further details forthcoming.

Looking for volunteer hours? Love to read? HPL’s Reading Buddies Volunteers help children in Grades 1 through 6 practice their reading skills. The new program runs from March 23 until June 12 and encourages reluctant readers to enjoy reading.
